Here at the Ryu Hurvitz Orthopedic Clinic, the health and safety of our patients and staff is always our number one priority. With this in mind, we are continuing to closely monitor the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) outbreak. In addition to staying in constant contact with the California Department of Health, we are staying up-to-date with the latest information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO).

APPOINTMENTS/VISITORS:

In an effort to keep everyone safe, we are asking all patients/visitors to NOT enter the building, and instead call to reschedule appointments if the following apply to you or an immediate family member:

  • Experiencing flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath)
  • Traveled from a Level 3 country with a return date in the past 14 days

VISITOR RESTRICTIONS:

We ask that only the patient enters the building and attends their appointment. Exceptions to this:

  • Patient is a minor accompanied by one adult
  • Patient is an adult with a minor that they cannot leave unattended.
  • Patient is recently post-op or is unable to ambulate without assistance.

We will continue taking extra precautions to provide the safest environment possible for our patients and staff. For any questions about your appointment, please call (805) 963-2729 x 2.

For questions regarding your care, please contact (805) 963-2729 and dial the appropriate extension.

TELEHEALTH ALTERNATIVE:

We know that these are uncertain times; here at the RHOC we are doing everything possible to continue providing the highest quality of care. While our clinic remains open for in-office consults, we are offering Telehealth options.

If you feel uncomfortable with an in-office visit, we can arrange a time for you to FaceTime or Skype with your doctor.

Although the evaluation if less thorough than an office visit, the Telehealth visit is a safe alternative.

Please contact us at (805) 963-2729 x 2 for further information on scheduling.

SURGERY NOTICE:

  • Effective March 17th, 2020, Santa Barbara and Goleta Valley Cottage Hospitals have cancelled all elective procedures scheduled through April 17th.  At this time we are unable to offer an estimate as to when surgeries, at either hospital, will be rescheduled. The hospital will contact us when we are able to begin rescheduling.
  • Effective March 19th, 2020, Summit and Premier Surgical Centers have cancelled all elective procedures through April 17th. Please note that we have not been provided with a definitive timeline for these restrictions. While we are rescheduling surgeries for dates after April 17th, there is a chance that your case will again be postponed.

These are uncertain times – the above cancellations have been mandated by oversight organizations outside of our control.

Our doctors have no control over which surgeries are deemed elective versus emergent.

Please contact out staff with any questions related to your surgery or care.

We are available at (805) 963-2729, Monday – Friday, from 8:00am – 5:00pm.

The steps to protect yourself from Coronavirus (COVID-19) are generally the same as those for the flu:

Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.

  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your elbow.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a household cleaning spray or wipe.

For information on prevention, symptoms and what to do if you’re feeling sick, please visit the California Department of Health website.
